Show Lights
Micro Poetic Fiction
I came across this picture online and it instantly inspired a story in me! So here is a short little (summer) poetic fiction based around the beautiful show of lightening bugs.
As the tree swayed gently in the evening breeze, I found myself nestled in my glass sanctuary, watching the sun dip below the horizon. The sky was a canvas of yellows, oranges, and pinks, swirling in a mesmerizing dance. It was my favorite part of the day, when nature painted its goodnight kiss across the world.
Every evening unfurled like the one before. The willow leaves above me rustled softly, and I waited patiently for the stars to twinkle into view. One by one, they emerged, speckling the darkening sky like tiny gems.
Then she came, the one who held my fate.
With a twist of her wrist, the lid of my jar popped open. We fluttered out into the cool night air. Our faint glows illuminated the surroundings as we joined in nature’s nightly spectacle.
A show just for her.
