Closing The Book To Open a New One
Embracing truth, rewriting the past, and creating the dream
I’m no longer turning the page to begin a new chapter in my story, like I have done several tower moments and multiple birthdays ago. I now close the book to open and write an entirely new one. And this one? I’m in control.
Without existence of the past, nothing else exists beyond this moment in which I begin writing from. I am to create a story which fulfills all my hopes, dreams, and wishes. Words (just like thoughts) create things: the beautiful, the powerful, the ugly, the unkind.
We tend to forget that we can write our own stories from scratch anytime we please. Just like we have the potential to pack a suitcase and leave our old life behind and travel the world in a van. We can scrap the old life and start fresh at anytime. A blank page of an empty notebook. Although the editing process can become heavy. As we delete and rework characters and dynamic relationships, fix plot holes with airtight solutions, eliminate fears the main character (you) have bestowed upon yourself. The past becomes forgiven but not forgotten, but instead of sitting in the forefront of thought, it can now be stored away in the previous book that has officially been closed out.
